I don’t know if you use RSS yourselves but I think it’s one of the greatest tools for keeping up to date with your favourite sites and interests that’s currently at our disposal and personally use FeedDemon to keep track of dozens of articles I’d probably forget to visit otherwise (you can RSS us here!).

That said, I do occasionally add something that turns out to be a bit disappointing after a while and so have to prune them out every few months to make way for the newer and better web finds.

Of course some sites get pruned not because they aren’t any good but just because they are so insanely busy like, metafilter and the BBC that I’d never have time to read them all so I’ve had to remove them in order to be able to get out of the house once in a while!

The next culling day was fast approaching and upsidedowndogs.com was going to go due to its dwindling update frequency and quite frankly, boring, images… but it has been granted a last minute reprieve all because of Kirra! I lolled pretty damn hard this morning when I saw her so she’s saved the feed, for now. Enjoy!

Translationparty.com is a great little site that takes the standard translation services you can find on the web and takes it as far as it can go in the search of perfection. By translating your phrase first into Japanese it then translates that translation back into English, then again back to Japanese, then English and so on until a perfect translation equilibruim is found.

I’ve had the most fun feeding it some of my favourite jokes (and managed to break it with this one which made me happy) you should have a go too.  Interested in sharing a link to a translation of the comments?

The first things you’ll notice are the banner change up at the top and the removal of the left sidebar. It seemed to us that in the old layout we really had 2 banners, one with an image and logo and the other with the text, just sitting on top of each other so to save space and get more content above the fold we’ve created a new stylised header from our logo. The left sidebar wasn’t being used for anything except showcasing the daily pictures but since that ran its course and was not longer being updated as frequently we decided to remove it. All of the old images can still be found in the gallery up the top and on the right we’ve established a flickr photo stream for the more regular but slightly less themed images we take.

The layout of the blog posts has also changed a little, moving the by-line and tags to the top and limiting the post width to a more standard and readable dimension.

And finally we’ve had to bite the bullet and include some advertising on the site. It’s only a very small amount and we hope it’s as unobtrusive as possible but we have always thought it would be nice if the site somehow in the future managed to pay for itself, so please forgive us this small sin. In the 2 days it’s been live we’ve had 1 advert clicked on generating an earthshakingly impressive 15p for the site so with a few more of those and all of your continued support we’ll be well on the way to breaking even.

Essentially Hunch is a web tool that takes the decision making process out of your hands and suggests answers that it reckons you’ll like based on questions about your personality it asks you and your previous decisions. When you land it’ll try to get a rough idea of who you are and what you might like by asking 20 simple questions about your preferences, once you’re done with that you’re free to ask it anything you want. Admittedly it’s only got a limited number of questions right now, it didn’t for instance allow me to ask what to do today, but I can only imagine that as more people get to using it the database will expand and soon nobody will ever have to make a choice of their own ever again.

I’m going to give it more of a try as personally, and I don’t think I’m alone on this one, I think online personality tests are great fun and this looks to be one of the most interesting out there.

Although the worst crime here is the stealing of bandwidth (something we don’t do here at Stolengolem) and not the copying of images, if I had been the one receiving these threats I don’t think that I would have been quite so kind to the “honest businessman”.

My Milk Toof is a great little blog telling the adventures of ickle and lardee, 2 milk teeth that have come home after being away for a while. The adventures of ickle and eventually lardee are told on the blog in a series of enchanting images and simple conversations which I can only see are destined to end up being a childrens best seller one day. There’s no RSS option sadly but you can join their facebook group to keep up do date with the site, which is just as well because we’ve been left with a bit of a cliffhanger just now. Will they ever find Turtle? Who IS turtle? Will ickle and lardee be ok? I know I’ll be looking in to find out. o/

When I was young, I placed my baby teeth under my pillow and when i woke up I’d find a shiny new quarter. But whatever happened to those little teeth? Where did they go? Would I ever see them again?
